Strings are an ordered collection of characters.

You can use it to represent and store text and byte-based information.

While writing conditional statements, we programmers often have to check whether a string contains a particular substring or not.

Most programming languages have a function known as contains to check if a string contains a particular substring or not.

Python also has the __contains__ method. However, in python, there are also other alternatives to check if a string contains a substring.

Here we will discuss different methods to check if a string contains a substring.

1. Check if the string contains a substring using the ‘in’ and ‘not in’ operators

This method is the simplest and easiest way to check if a string contains a substring in python.

Both the ‘in’ and ‘not in’ operators take two arguments and check whether one argument is a member of the other. They will return a true or false value.
